We are recruiting a compassionate and clinically confident Staff Nurse to join a UK-based care home, working on days and/or nights as part of a multidisciplinary team.
You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to older adults and individuals with complex health needs, while supporting care staff and ensuring residents’ dignity, safety, and wellbeing at all times.
For suitable candidates, this role is eligible for Health and Care Worker Visa sponsorship, in line with current UK immigration rules and NMC requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver safe, person-centred nursing care to residents in line with care plans and clinical best practice
Administer medications and treatments, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to NMC standards
Complete clinical assessments, observations, and reviews, escalating changes in condition promptly
Lead and supervise Care Assistants/Healthcare Assistants on shift, allocating tasks and providing guidance
Maintain accurate care plans, risk assessments, fluid/food charts, and clinical records (paper or electronic)
Support with wound care, catheter care, PEG feeds, diabetes management, and other routine clinical tasks (as trained)
Participate in handover, MDT meetings, and care reviews with families and external professionals (GPs, community nurses, therapists, social workers)
Promote and uphold safeguarding, infection control, health & safety, and CQC standards
Contribute to audits, quality improvement initiatives, and staff training as required
Foster a positive, supportive environment for residents, relatives, and colleagues
Essential Requirements
Registered Nurse (Adult/RGN, RMN, or RNLD) with valid NMC registration, or in the process of obtaining it (for overseas candidates)
Previous experience working as a Staff Nurse / Registered Nurse in a care home, hospital, or similar clinical setting
Confident in managing a caseload of residents and leading a team during day and/or night shifts
Good clinical skills in areas such as medication management, assessments, documentation, and escalation
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Ability to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays on a rota
Compassionate, patient, and professional approach with a genuine commitment to high-quality care

Meet NMC requirements for registration (including English language, where applicable)
Meet the Health and Care Worker visa skill and salary thresholds set by the UK Home Office
Satisfy all immigration, character, and criminal record checks required for sponsorship
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience working in a care home / nursing home environment
Previous experience as a Senior Staff Nurse / Nurse in Charge / Night Nurse
Familiarity with CQC regulations and quality frameworks in adult social care
Experience mentoring, supervising, or supporting junior nurses and care staff
Training/experience in dementia care, palliative/end-of-life care, frailty, or long-term conditions
Evidence of ongoing CPD, revalidation activities, and quality improvement work

This role is eligible for sponsorship under the Health and Care Worker visa (Registered Nurse occupation code), subject to Home Office rules and employer approval.
