We are recruiting Support Workers - Learning Disabilities to work with adults in supported living and residential services across the UK. You’ll support individuals with learning disabilities and associated needs to live safely, develop life skills, and access their community with dignity and choice.
This role is ideal for UK-based candidates with a genuine passion for person-centred care. For eligible candidates already living in the UK, there may be limited visa sponsorship options under current UK immigration rules (see “Visa Sponsorship Information” below).
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day support to adults with learning disabilities, autism, and/or complex needs
Support with personal care where required (washing, dressing, toileting, hygiene) while respecting dignity and privacy
Encourage and assist with daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, and managing money
Promote engagement in meaningful activities – hobbies, education, volunteering, and social events
Support individuals to access the local community (appointments, leisure activities, public transport)
Implement and follow care and support plans, including risk assessments and behaviour support plans
Use positive behaviour support approaches to manage behaviours that challenge, always focusing on safety and respect
Keep accurate and up-to-date records, incident reports, and daily notes
Work closely with families, advocates, and multidisciplinary teams (social workers, nurses, therapists)
Follow all safeguarding, health & safety, infection control, and confidentiality procedures
Essential Requirements
Currently living in the UK (priority given to UK-based applicants)
Genuine passion for supporting people with learning disabilities and complex needs
Caring, patient, and resilient nature with a non-judgemental attitude
Good spoken and written English communication skills
Willingness to work flexible shifts, which may include early, late, sleep-ins, nights, weekends, and bank holidays
Ability to work as part of a team and to use initiative when working alone
Basic IT skills for recording notes and using electronic care systems
Right to work in the UK or potential eligibility to switch routes under current Skilled Worker / Health & Care Worker arrangements (UK-based only, subject to employer and Home Office rules)
Desirable Skills & Experience
Previous experience as a Support Worker, Learning Disabilities Support Worker, Care Assistant, Healthcare Assistant, or similar
Experience in learning disability, autism, mental health, or supported living services
Training or experience in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), de-escalation techniques, or PROACT-SCIPr®/MAPA (or similar)
Training in Safeguarding, First Aid, Epilepsy, Medication, Autism Awareness, or similar
NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care / Care / Learning Disabilities (or working towards)
UK driving licence and access to a car (especially useful for services in rural or community-based settings)

Competitive salary, typically £24,000 – £30,000 per annum, depending on location, experience, and shift pattern
